Subjects in schools - DemoTester - Oct 30, 2024 If you could create a new subject to be taught in schools, what would it be and why? I would create digital literacy and online safety. Id add this because new generations need to learn how to use social media properly, understand technology, the power of content creation (im not talking about random tiktok dances), online privacy, security precautions, digital footprint (some OF creators forget its online forever) and most importantly understand that our world evolves around tech nowadays. RE: Subjects in schools - Bastille - Oct 30, 2024 I would create something called "moral", "life", or "education" as parents don't care anymore about their kids, they put them behind a smartphone and the internet educates them. It's a wide topic, and I would definitely integrate what you mentioned in your post. This is vital for these kids to be aware of these risks. RE: Subjects in schools - Tyr - Oct 31, 2024 Personal Finance. This should be taught as soon as you go into HS. RE: Subjects in schools - Riggs - Oct 31, 2024 Crypto Fundamentals (asymmetric key crypo, RSA, diffie-hellman, blockchain etc) - school covers other areas of advanced mathematics which nobody ever uses in their day-to-day lives nor are dependent on such. So much of our modern world relies on implementations of crypto to function and the current education system doesn't even touch on the high-level basics. Taxes/Investments - there seems to be fuck all coverage of how taxes and fractional reserve banking works in reality and practice. New generations are entering the economic world in a state of complete ignorance to what the risks are and the global options they have to capitalise on savings and investment strategies. RE: Subjects in schools - SuseGD - Oct 31, 2024 I would suggest something for time management and scheduling, because learning these skills at an early age will prepare you for the future very well. I still struggle with managing my time myself, so I think this would be a great subject to have in schools. RE: Subjects in schools - Game - Oct 31, 2024 I just think more life skills should be taught. Like tax-filing, laws, and other helpful shit you end up having to figure out in the deep end as an adult because no one taught you. Agreed, this is important. I would also want to add in a general "life skills" to teach self awareness, awareness of your surroundings, how to have a conversation with people etc. I am seeing more and more students get out of high school and are extremely oblivious and extremely socially underdeveloped. RE: Subjects in schools - RangoWorld - Nov 20, 2024 I would create a subject for Morals, Ethics and Character. All these three things into one subject as I believe it is a need of the hour in the world that students understand this stuff.
