Social media viewcount, paranoid or legit? - SIM-5022267 - Nov 11, 2024

Does this indicate anything? It seems very strange.

Occasionally, the images I uploaded to Imgur would show 2 view counts, ok that's strange. Sometime later, I upload and it shows 0, despite refreshing 30 times it will always show 0. I tried again and again to replicate and it will always show 0.

Randomly sometime later, I upload again, and this time it's like nudes and it shows 2 view counts again. Am I crazy or what kind of tracking is this?

Not only this, but ad posts to websites like Kijiji.ca, or Facebook Marketplace where I post an ad for items I want to sell. It keeps showing 2-3 view counts, 1 view count is me, the other extra 2 counts are very odd, and it keeps showing that after only 5 minutes. You'd assume it's random strangers visiting my page, but no, this is happening consistently after 5 minutes of just posting and it happens every single time I post an ad. What are these 2 extra view counts?

I think I remember testing this on a different network and device, and it shows only 1 view count on Kijiji, no matter how many times I did.

Call me paranoid, but this seems like an indication that I have not been able to get rid of the infection/hacking targeting me despite wiping my computers and getting myself a new network/modem. Does anyone have a theory? Unless I was sloppy and screwed up when wiping and using an infected USB to reset PC, and spread the infection again, I don't believe the infection can persist like this. I used Secure Erase+ (essentially zero-fill), and I used Windows installation media USB to reset, and even got myself a new modem/internet.

Can you also try this out yourself and see if you get the same results?
