Google Pixel + GrapheneOs - Raumuo - Nov 24, 2024

Will I be able to use daily apps like Bybit, Facebook, Instagram, and others on a Google Pixel with GrapheneOS, as I prefer not to use regular Android for security reasons? Sim card will not be using, I will use Glocal Me internet router.

Yeah you'll be able to use those apps still.

GrapheneOS is good for security, especially in the past. Senior developer is a huge jerk, though, so I prefer CalyxOS. The only problems that you'll have is with apps that require Google Play Services and require Play certification like some banking apps.

GrapheneOS offers Google Play Sandbox mode which does enable some apps that typically require Google Play Services (like Uber). Or you can strip Play Services from your phone completely and find alternative solutions compatible with GrapheneOS. Use a web browser to access banks dashboard, opt for FOSS apps and tools like Jellyfin/Plex for media services, NewPipe for "youtube premium" clone (or just a better version of YT premium), Magic Earth for GPS, OpenWeather for weather app, etc.

I find it more tedious but more rewarding to change your habits to accommodate a private lifestyle. Bank apps not working on GrapheneOS should tell you enough about that banks privacy policies. Chances are if it needs Play Services, you can probably do without it.

Yes, you just download the official APK. Make sure to use a trusted source, though.
