victim knows somebody at the helpdesk phonecompany - docock - Aug 22, 2010 I want to send some moron some fake text messages which will piss him off. Since no sms bomb programs seem to work in the Netherlands I had to buy a prepaid sim card for this purpose. But he's got a friend at the help desk at the phone company where I bought my prepaid sim card from. If my victim passes my phonenumber to that friend, will he be able to see where I bought my prepaid card or where the call is coming from? * - Etheryte - Aug 22, 2010 Help desk workers usually operate on need-to-know basis, eg. they don't get their hands on information they don't need to know to help the client they're currently dealing with. If your target reports you for harassment what you're facing at worst is just the prepaid card closed. Companies usually keep track of prepaids in bulks, it would be probably possible to trace it back to the store chain it was bought from, likely not further as from a point on the shops will spread the shipments out themselves. Also, tracing call locations for a mobile phone is, or at least was the last time I checked, a rather cumbersome activity and requires you to be on the call for the time it's being done, as far as I'm aware. According to your local laws they wouldn't likely legally be allowed to do that without law enforcement request either ways. * - docock - Aug 22, 2010 thanks, I appreciate your reply * - No Mo Baked Ziti - Aug 25, 2010 Yeah, as long as you paid in cash you're golden. Don't worry about it. |
