Christmas breakfast at work - jcole - Dec 20, 2024

My job scheduled a Christmas breakfast where we all meet up in our work trucks at a designated location at 8AM and eat breakfast paid for by the company. I've been on call for 9 days in a row because people consistently ask me to cover their on call schedule. I got called out to a location at 6AM that is one and a half hours away.. Not looking like I'm going to be able to eat breakfast with my managers and co workers. Pretty bummed out about that, but trying to be positive because there's no point in being sour about it.

Note: I never see my co workers, but have known them for years. We all have our own work vehicle and our own schedules.

That’s a tough situation, especially when you rarely get the chance to connect with your coworkers in person. It’s great that you’re staying positive, though—maybe you can suggest a casual meet-up with them outside of work sometime to make up for missing the breakfast!

The good news is that you are climbing the corporate ladder!

Missing the breakfast with everyone might of been a positive.. I called the big boss and let him know that I was sorry I couldn't make it because I had an emergency call out, and he said he understood and would take me for a one on one next week.

I am sorry you will not make it to the breakfast, but it is awesome that you are staying optimistic.
Maybe you can find another chance to spend time with your team later.

Sending Virtual Hugs buddy. Don't worry about it much. Get yourself a nice breakfast someday. Maybe with someone.

These things happen in life. But we can always choose to make ourselves happy later by doing what we like or love. Life's too short to stay bummed up.
