A friend years ago has an ipad, who knows neither the mail nor the counter, skips the activation lock, can you do something to remove it?

If it's old there are things you can try with websites like : https://www.appletech752.com/ and https://checkm8.info/ , but it seems there are cons with those methods, such as getting blocked again after a reboot.
Otherwise you need a contact of someone working at Apple, but most of the time it's expensive, like half of the price of the product
