Convo.php - Stanley Thread Notifications rate limiting (per user) - Hackers - Jan 30, 2025
I suggest a change to the convo thread notifications system.
It could be queued so it does not instantly reply, which could be better if anyone has a habit of making threads at certain times of the day.
Alternatively, perhaps there should be a general rate limit so it doesn't notify more than 3 threads per user, per hour - or similar, even as low as 1 per hour, or maybe with a different frequency like 5 per day.

A 3rd option could be for Stanley to actually not instant notify at all, even on a queue.
Instead, it could batch thread notifications for 5-10 threads at a time, or at least once per hour.
----
This might not be the biggest priority, but worth mentioning.

If someone is spamming it's actually better that those in Convo know so threads can be reported.

Exactly! 95% of my reports that I submit are from seeing a thread, opening it right away, reading it and seeing if it's junk or not

I’ve done this a few times.
Hmm. This does seem like a huge benefit.
And realistically if I’m going to post 5 threads about similar topic I can just start combining things to not bother people.
