Best book you've read recently? - chroma_x - Feb 18, 2025

I'm in a reading slump and need some recommendations. What's the best book you've read in the last few months? Genre doesn't matter, I'm open to anything! Tell me why you loved it too!

Did they do some really really terrible things? I saw some Native American guy on Reddit talking about the terrible things that tribes did that people sanitise completely to be PC, but man it was their way to get other tribes not to fuck with them they'd do horrendous torture in the hopes it would be passed along as gossip to stay away.
[Side note a lot of online wannabe romance scammers in Africa will create a profile where they put up a picture of a white guy who works in oil or the US military and list their race as Native American because they don't know what Native American means. 🤣]

The Comanches were the most violent tribe in NA. Even when trying to expand the railroad westward the government had to send in the US army to try to clear them out and push them back. The Texas rangers were formed specifically to deal with them after 1836. They controlled most of Texas, Oklahoma, some of eastern New Mexico and some of northern Mexico at their height. But would travel as far as Kansas, Colorado and Arizona to raid and pillage. They kidnapped tons of people. That’s what the book is about, a white woman kidnapped and bore a child that grew up a Comanche and ended up being the most brutal of all and expanded their territory greatly.
