Mobile privacy - w3b_man - Feb 21, 2025 With the recent change in encryption in the Uk for Apple users what should users do if they are worried about their privacy but don’t want to fully move away from their iPhone. RE: Mobile privacy - Epic - Feb 21, 2025 From my understanding (I don't actually have an iPhone) it's removal/modification of ADB and it's relation to iCloud. I think migrating as much as you can off iCloud would be the first step. Quote:For UK Apple users, some data can still be encrypted. iCloud Keychain and Health, iMessage, and FaceTime will remain end-to-end encrypted by default. But other iCloud services will not be encrypted, effective immediately, including iCloud Backup, iCloud Drive, Photos, Notes, Reminders, Safari Bookmarks, Siri Shortcuts, Voice memos, Wallet passes, and Freeform https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/02/apple-pulls-data-protection-tool-instead-of-caving-to-uk-demand-for-a-backdoor/ The usual also applies, VPN, good web browser habits, private email providers, etc. etc. I think if your data is truly sensative, then an iphone (especially iCloud) most likely isn't the place for it anyway. See my other reply below for some more of my thoughts. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6291713&pid=62683879#pid62683879 I am a huge advocate for privacy, security, and freedom. This effects all three So this news is important to me, despite it not directly effecting me.
