Basics? That alone is a massive category...as for tools, Kali Linux comes with alot of the tools you need for ethical hacking.

Really depends on what you're looking to do. Some of the most common tools around are keyloggers and RAT's, but I'd genuinely recommend familiarizing yourself with how things work, first and foremost.. Network protocols are straightforward but very important.

You need to establish a particular goal (or a set of them) in order to make any progress. Anybody can download and/or pay for some premade shit that someone who actually (but not always) knows what they're doing.

1.) Learn Social Engineering

2.) Learn everything that can be found on www.comptia.org for the Security+ and Network+'s fundamentals so you understand how the OSI model works and TCP/IP stack, the types of communications that occur on each level and what they represent.

3.) Network with other like-minded individuals eager to learn

4.) Setup a VM on your computer and navigate to a site such as www.kali.org and read every single one of the help documents before you begin. If there is something you do not understand, cross reference or ask AI.

5.) Use AI to understand concepts you need a more specific explanation for but do not use it to simply pass labs. You must take the information it gives you and truly understand it. I wouldn't recommend this but if you want to learn as quickly as possible there are customized GPT's for this type of stuff which you have the luxury of having whereas many of us did not.

Why would someone use Kali over Ubuntu if you don't mind me asking?

Advice noted and taken.

I just paid someone from this site 7k via crypto to teach me how to learn how the basics.

Where else do you recommend I go to consume new information that I can put to the test in VirtualBox?
