Tool that compiles visual studio projects without visual studio - cxcolor - May 2, 2025

I have been a while trying to find an app/tool that compiles visual studio projects (such as .sln .c, and so on)
But so far i haven't found any tool to do that, and i do not want to use visual studio due to installation issues.
So i will try finding a tool that compiles vs projects, but if anyone knows (or owns) any tool please let me know.

Visual Studio isn't the only option for compiling C/C++ projects on Windows. You have a couple alternatives: Clang and MinGW. You can also just use MSVC (Visual Studio compiler) through commandline, but I think the others are easier. You're also going to have to deal with figuring out what libraries to link, what configuration, etc. I'm fairly sure you can pass a .SLN project to MSVC and compile it without having the actual IDE installed. Also, JetBrain's C IDE might be able to compile a SLN, but I'm not sure since I believe they use CMake for their project structure

I would go for the Visual Studio Build Tools. Doesn't require the full GUI. Do note that dependencies for building .NET projects can be problematic.
