confused about contracts - johndoeman805 - May 24, 2025

-I am learning programming and just got started👍

i.e. if I am selling kebab, you would post the link to my kebab sales thread in this box.

Ah👍 Problem is I keep getting this error: "Only a thread creator can be added to a contract with a linked thread" in a nutshell their is a service/bot I want built for me. A different user made a thread a while ago asking for this product. (lets call them "user A) Another random user chimed in and offered to offer this service. (lets call them user B) I try to make a contract with user B because they seem to offer the product/service I want. However when I try to make a contract I keep getting this error in the New Contract prompt. "Only a thread creator can be added to a contract with a linked thread"

-what do i do?

-thx

It doesn't necessarily have to be a sales thread from a product/service owner in that box -- it can be your own buyer's thread as well.

There may be a post count threshold to access this marketplace section, but I believe the correct home for your thread would be here:
Buyers Bay

[the thread doesn't have to be super comprehensive, mostly it's just a reference point where both parties to the contract agree on the focus of the work]

a thx :) Thing is there are actually several users that i think that can offer me the service i want. do I just make one thread? (and then send 2 separate contracts?) the reason I might make 2 contracts is one user (it seems) has not been on this site for months so maybe they left (IDK) etc

Good luck with the project!

Are you adding the whole thread link? If so, try just entering the TID from the URL. Extract whatever is after the “tid=“ in your address bar of the thread. For example, the TID of this current thread: https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6298896 is 6298896
