What does nostalgia mean to you? Good memories or bad ones? - TheNaturalBoy - Jun 27, 2025
You know, I think nostalgia is important. Yes, even if the early years of your life weren’t good, there are tiny, very tiny details that make those fleeting moments of involuntary nostalgia feel less terrible. Things like walking through a certain place, playing with your hands, playing with a stone, playing with your imagination. Maybe some people have more specific memories—those who will have more pleasant recollections, and those who won’t. Maybe someone misses a place they used to live, a street, certain people—people who might have been part of us, or whose presence simply carved out a space in our minds and, just perhaps, in our hearts. Tell me, guys, what does nostalgia mean to you? Something good? Something bad? Do you allow yourselves to remember certain things, or do you push them down?
All right, everyone, if you’re going through a tough time or feel like there’s nothing good to remember, don’t worry—you’re not alone. I’ve always said that life is both hard and easy. Maybe it’s better described as a “terribly beautiful complexity that’s so simple to understand.” If you feel lost or suffocated by something in particular, it’s a good idea to let it out, to express it—maybe to a trusted family member, a close friend, a partner, or even here. The important thing is not to carry those heavy feelings around all the time. If you’re a believer, you can turn to your God, whatever religion you follow. If you don’t believe in anything, you can focus on the facts and seek professional help, dive deep within yourself, and, step by step, strengthen your character, manage your emotions, and safeguard your mental health.
Well, with nothing more to add, with your permission: have a good day, a good afternoon, or a good night. God bless you all. This is my favorite nostalgic song. I just came across it somewhere, and I really liked it. If you’d like, you can share your song or anything that makes you feel nostalgic. :3

nostalgia are yearnings or regrets for the past, often triggered when a person reflects on cherished memories or even difficult experiences.
For examples : a cherished memory, could be when a woman, remembers the the time she gave birth to her first child after a long period of pregnancy
A difficult memory, could be when a pregnant woman lost her baby after a long period of pregnancy

I think it's sometimes good and bad.
for instance songs I used to listen to when I was a kid when I hear it in a movie or on tv or on the raid it takes me back to memories when I first heard it.
Other times I go on google earth and just look around my city. I sometimes see my elementry school and middle school and high school and get sad as to how much it changed over the years . I had good memories and bad memories. I have had teachers that I didn't know at the time but they were racist towards me when 9/11 happened and after that episode happened. I had middle eastern mixed in me with European blood line.
However, how I look is a white middle eastern man or mexican or italian. Anyways, I remember when 9/11 happened. I was in english class.
My teacher was going to get us an essay to write then teachers walked to each room and yelled turn on the TV.
I see a commercial plan hit the two towers. They then showed a picture of osama binladen and then my teacher looked right at me with his teeth clinchin shut. He was pissed and looked at me as if I did it. I was confused at the time because I got the vibed he was pissed at me as if I did it. I told my parents about it and they didn't listen and assume I must have misunderstood him.
I got all A's in my classes except his class. I got a C and was grounded for the whole summer. I remember the last day of school. I was so pissed off at this guy. He looked like those blond haired guys with a military buzz cut with those nerdy glass with a white dress shirt and a black tie with black pants. He would have a pocket protector. He looked exactly like those guys in the control center for the Apollo mission.
The last day he was talkin to a group of kids in the back of the class. I went to the front of the class where his desktop machine was at. I looked at his online grade input sheet. He had it pulled up but you needed to log into it. He also had it printed too .
So, in front of the desk it faces the class room and below the desk is a metal peice he would use 2 Manets to hold a schedule for our class. Like homework assigned and when it's due it would be like a calendar.
Anyways, a group of kids walked up to me asking if I am changing my grade and I go no. I told them fun fact if you take those magnets and put it on the tower of the computer under the table it will fuck up his computer. They told me that it's not true. I was like if you think so then you have nothing to worry about. So, the kid takes it and puts it near the cpu and we see error saying something that the clock speed changed. Then I go put it my the screen. So, he did and it fucked up his screen. It was making it swirl with a hint of pink and purple that was presently etched into the screen.
The kid panics and tells me to take it. I go no you were the pone that did it. He tries to pass it on to others which they refused.
Then there was a kid that came back from the hallway using the bathroom. He asked him if he can hold the magnet for a bit and he was like sure.
Right after he hands him it. The teacher noticed a group of us in the front at his computer. He yells "HEY GET AWAY FROM THERE" he was pissed and he thought we changed our grades. HE was like I am going to look over these grades and if one is changed you will get expelled from school.
He told us he has back up copies in the main office so he was like even if you changed the printed version that was next to his desk he said he uses that to mark and keep track on where he's at in grading. He then came over to see his computer all fucked up with purple and pink swirls on his screen with a CPU clock speed error. This was using windows 98 at the time. It was the last day which was half the day.
I then left. but the teacher saw the kid with the magnet and grabbed him He was like oh no mister you're not going anywhere and he said he is going to make his parent's pay for a new computer.
I laughed at the fact that the teacher grabbed the wrong kid.
Google maps brings a lot of memories but it's just sad how everything is changing over time and it's not for the good. Like my schools now look like the hood. It's no longer maintain properly and everything is just rusted out and old. I was there when they put in new windows and put in a new fresh coat of paint for their logo an sign. Not just that back in the day there was fist fights. Now, there's people shooting each other with guns and knifes and they're talking about putting a security system at the entrance to detect guns and knives.
It's just insane and my state's education system is down in the toilet. We are 43th in the nation with the highest highschool graduation rate. Too many people in my state that can't even read english.
We had to pay $100 dollars for 3 bins one for trash, one for yard waste and one for recycles. We had to do it in order to get our crap picked up.
It was because the people they hired can't read english. The are people born and raised in the state. So, our bins are color coded. green for trash, blue for recyclables and brown for yard waste.
If you didn't have their bins then they won't pick up your trash even though you pay for it. That's how bad my city has gotten. It's turning into a ghetto.
Man, what a great story. (I’m sorry about your experience with that teacher—I understand the issue of racism.) I really appreciate your words about how you approach nostalgia with your childhood memories. :3

Nostalgia is a reminder of when things were a lot more simple back then. For me at least.

Man, nostalgia’s like a warm hug mixed with a little stab in the heart, you know? It’s those moments that pop into your head—maybe a summer night with your best friends, laughing ‘til you couldn’t breathe, or even a tough memory, like missing someone you lost. The good stuff makes you smile but kinda hurts ‘cause you can’t go back. The bad stuff? It’s heavier, like wishing you could redo things. Either way, it’s this weird mix of happy and sad that just hits you out of nowhere.

Nostalgia brings me back to the days of no real worries or responsibilities, really whenever I lived with my parents and didn't have bills is nostalgic times for me.

Nostalgia to me is normally good memories. And normally the bad ones, I can reflect back and laugh about.
