HDD Admin/Master Password Removal? - ProxyLand - Jul 18, 2025 Hello HF,
So, i own a few desktop PC's and laptops... And basically, im trying to fix a PC, but first I have to overcome this HDD master password that i had set on it like 4 years ago. Ive tried several things, like DBAM and other various wipe tools... so far nothing has worked. Maybe im utilizing them wrong, idk. So, im not worried about the data, i just need to make this HDD refunctional. Its a simple Western Digital Blue type model. I can get the exact model number here shortly and then update this post. What tools can i use to clear that password? Its the only that is asked directly after booting the PC and putting in the Admin password and hitting enter, its the next one that pops up. The HDD password. Any help would be highly appreciated!! Trying to resurrect this old optiplex! Lol. RE: HDD Admin/Master Password Removal? - DramaKing - Jul 18, 2025 This thread has some suggestions, but you might need a debugging tool sometimes called a BIOS programmer. Hopefully, you can extract the firmware without removing the chip. It's just a hard drive, though. Might not be worth specialized tools. I think honestly I've held onto it easily enough but, if I have to do any physical chip stuff, idk if I'm up to the task for that lmfao. I'm not near educated for program engineering lol. Tools/software I could do yeah, but else wise I would just take the loss finally. But yeah, it's a WD 80GB Blue SE Caviar WD800JD model. if that helps. I just wanna stick Linux on it and use it and resurrect and old PC RE: HDD Admin/Master Password Removal? - DramaKing - Jul 18, 2025 Oops, forgot the link. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6292883 RE: HDD Admin/Master Password Removal? - ProxyLand - Jul 18, 2025 (Jul 18, 2025 08:27 PM)DramaKing Wrote: Oops, forgot the link. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6292883 Just took a look.
