Basic OPSEC & Staying Safe Online - W1NK1LL3RX - Aug 19, 2025

BASIC OPSEC AND STAYING SAFE ONLINE

Before you even think about hacking you need to protect yourself first. This is the step most beginners skip and it is usually the reason they get caught.

WHAT IS OPSEC

OPSEC or Operational Security is about covering your tracks and making sure nothing links back to you. Think of it like putting on gloves before touching anything it keeps your prints off. If you use your real email real name and home internet you are already exposed.

HOW TO STAY SAFE

Use a VPN. Your ISP logs everything so always use a no log VPN like:

Mullvad https://mullvad.net

ProtonVPN https://protonvpn.com

Do not use your main device. Run a Virtual Machine or a spare laptop:

VirtualBox https://www.virtualbox.org

VMware https://www.vmware.com

Keep your identities separate. Avoid mixing personal accounts with other types of accounts. Use burner emails when necessary:

SimpleLogin https://simplelogin.io

Guerilla Mail https://www.guerrillamail.com

Check your leaks. After setting up check if you are exposed:

IPLeak https://ipleak.net

Use a password manager and do not reuse passwords:

KeePassXC https://keepassxc.org

Bitwarden https://bitwarden.com

COMMON BEGINNER MISTAKES

Using personal Gmail or Facebook while testing hacks.

Thinking VPN alone makes you invisible.

Downloading random tools from unknown sources.

Forgetting that files or images carry metadata that can reveal your location.

Running everything on your main PC without isolation.

PRACTICE ROUTINE

Install a VM and run a Linux distro such as Kali or Parrot.

Always connect through VPN before doing anything.

Use burner emails for every site you register on.

Never save logins in your browser use a password manager instead.

Once a week test yourself at IPLeak to make sure nothing is slipping:

FINAL THOUGHT

If you build good OPSEC habits now you will save yourself headaches later. Hacking without OPSEC is like robbing a bank without a mask you might get away with it once but sooner or later it will catch up with you.
