The UK government is like North Korea - thatcyplex34 - Aug 21, 2025 The online safety act in the UK, which essentially censors platforms like Wikipedia in the name of "protecting kids," reminds me of North Korea. I believe that if they censor Wikipedia, they will suppress the valuable information it contains and prevent unwanted content from being posted. This situation feels as though the UK is regressing to a time similar to 1945 or resembling the censorship seen in North Korea. RE: The UK government is like North Korea - Juoku - Aug 21, 2025 Well, that's the problem, people will always try to justify censorship and other controlling behaviors with "logic", stating its to protect the kids or some other bullshit... Seriously, how about you let the parents worry about that? if I have a problem with Wikipedia, I will block it for my kids, if they don't know how to, there are private companies who do that for you, let people make their own damn decisions instead of forcing them down people's throats. Once a government starts justifying censorship “for safety,” it rarely stops at the first target. Wikipedia is one of the last places where knowledge is openly shared and cross-checked, so restricting it doesn’t just “protect kids”, it weakens society’s ability to think critically and access unbiased information. It does feel more like control than protection, and history has shown where that road leads. There’s literally built-in parental control on some new routers that parents can switch on, but the parents are just being lazy RE: The UK government is like North Korea - Omniscient - Aug 24, 2025 The UK is out of control and I do not understand why the citizens aren't storming Parliament. RE: The UK government is like North Korea - Rsynced - Aug 24, 2025 They should burn all physical encyclopedia books, this was effective in the past obviously. I think it's because they want to control what the public sees about their government. They're going broke. There's garbage collection companies at a halt because the workers wants more money and the companies are in the red. Right now the UK has a lot of trash in the streets. However, they're green lighting immigrants from 3rd world countries to come into the Uk and work those jobs for cheap. For this to work they need to control the internet to not alert their own people on what's going on. They're trying to replace British people with foreign workers. This is happening in Canada and the U.S.A too to a degree but not as bad as the UK. It’s important for parents to set a PIN that only they know, not the child. Additionally, they should establish restrictions for websites that the kids cannot visit, as well as those they can access. |
