RTX 5070 Ti graphics card introduced; MSI's solution to the melting connector problem - digital2key - Oct 4, 2025 ![]() MSI’s new RTX 5070 Ti design hides the 16-pin connector under the backplate to completely eliminate cable kinks and common technical issues. MSI has just unveiled a new design for the RTX 5070 Ti graphics card. In this model, the 16-pin connector is cleverly hidden under the detachable backplate, which not only creates a neater look but also plays an important role in preventing technical issues. Wccftech writes that one of the common problems with high-end graphics cards is the cable kinking near the connector, which often causes the 16-pin power connector to burn and melt. According to the manufacturer’s instructions, the cable should not be bent closer than 35 mm from the GPU connector, as this can lead to a loose connection and an increased risk of melting. MSI’s new solution solves this problem. In MSI’s new RTX 5070 Ti graphics card design, the connector is located about three inches inside the heatsink and under the Backplate. This Backplate has a removable part that the user can close again after connecting the cable for a neater look. This change creates enough space for the cable and completely eliminates its bending near the connector. A short video published by Japanese YouTuber @harucan5492 first showcased this design. In the video, it can be seen that unlike conventional cards where the connector is located on the edge of the PCB, in this model the connector is designed deep into the heatsink. In terms of appearance, this version is very similar to the MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus Edition model and will be available in an all-white color scheme. Although detailed information about the model name and operating frequency has not yet been released, the main point of this design is to focus on solving the problem of cable bending and increasing connector safety. Currently, MSI has not announced details about the price and release date of this graphics card; but it is expected to attract the attention of professional users and hardware enthusiasts due to the innovation in the design.
RE: RTX 5070 Ti graphics card introduced; MSI's solution to the melting connector problem - webdev77 - Oct 4, 2025 Kind of amazing that this whole connector issue is still ongoing. RE: RTX 5070 Ti graphics card introduced; MSI's solution to the melting connector problem - plops - Oct 4, 2025 The location of the connector described seems like it should be industry standard. RE: RTX 5070 Ti graphics card introduced; MSI's solution to the melting connector problem - Mix - Oct 6, 2025 I can still see the connector having issues with the power draw. The connector is using very thin metal which is sometimes getting to hot and melting the connector. This is why the old connector was better. RE: RTX 5070 Ti graphics card introduced; MSI's solution to the melting connector problem - Sam - Oct 7, 2025 There isn't much power involved with the 5070 ti like with the 5090. It's insane how the cables for the 5070 are even melting, it has to be down to user error. |
