Hunger in an apocalypse - plops - Oct 4, 2025
Sometimes I think about the instability and making sure I can feed my family. It stresses me out.
Then one of my obese cats will walk up asking to be pet. I'll pet it and think "Yeah, I'd roast you up if I had to.".
Would you eat your pets if it came down to it? Or just starve and let them eat you when you fall over?

Nah. I think I would be pretty good at scavenging for food.

I would never eat my dog. I'll die with my dog.

I would starve rather than eat a dog.
My dog remains safe and loved.

Brother that’s a pretty wild scenario to imagine. I think I’d just starve before I’d eat my pets. They’d probably outlive me anyway.

Yeah it is, I feel bad for being willing to eats my cats now lol
Humanity has been at that point in the past though. I doubt we will ever see it.

First thing I'd do during apocalypse - go and loot super markers as much as I can.

Very interesting scenario.
Would definitely never ever consider eating pets, won't have the heart for it. As some of the gentlemen above said, rather die alongside them.

I would never do it but in some people you never know what might happen if real starving comes to happen some can get bad hallucinations I have heard many stories like this.

I would rather die than eat my pets, to be honest with you.
But I don't blame you for doing it.
We could turn the question around.
What if your kids died, unless you fed them to your pets in an apocalypse?
Then people probably would do it.
Everything has a price.
Hopefully, no one ever experiences that extreme situation.
But looking at the state of the world right now?
Stocking up on bottled water and canned food is not a bad idea.
