Murderer thought getting pregnant was her ticket to freedom & a financial settlement. - The Pact - Oct 11, 2025 A Florida jail inmate who conceived a baby from a male prisoner she never met face-to-face told her mother that getting pregnant was her ticket to freedom and a financial settlement. Joan Depaz, a transgender detainee also charged with murder, had established contact with Link through air-conditioning ventilation. They even exchanged photos and notes, including one message in which Depaz called Link his “snuggle wuggle baby girl.” Joan also sent Link sperm with which to make a baby. Link called her mother Christmas Day, 2023, to break the news that she was carrying a baby. The older woman was incredulous. “You’re full of s—the mother said, according to audio of the phone call. Link responded. “I’m going to sue them and get out. You know how much I can sue them for? This is all planned. I can get out now.” Her mother responded: “You know what? You’re stupid.” The baby girl is now living with Depaz’s mother. The father Depaz pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 25 years in state prison earlier this year. Things did not work out for Daisy Link. The 30-year-old accused murderer has not left the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since 2022. When asked if she would get to see the baby soon, her lawyer said that if convicted she would not be able to for several years. The right to a speedy trial seems nonexistent anymore. You should care because what about those who are innocent? But basically I found out the loop hole is that they are told if they want a fair trial that they have to sign forms forfeiting their right to a speedy trial because they are told that a "speedy trial" will mean a poor defense. Then they spend most of five years being told that their lawyer can't talk to them because they are busy with other cases, and don't be so demanding as to want to have some of your lawyer's time because they are busy with other cases. So they sent sperm through the air ducts and got pregnant with that? Then they ended up staying in jail? One identified as transgender and so was in a women's pregnant but was able to father a baby as "Joan" had wanted to but thought would have no chance being in prison for life. They never saw each other but made friends and romantic partners through the air duct. Didn't get the pregnant one out of prison and the baby is with the transgender person's mother now. |
