IBM makes progress with AMD chips for quantum error correction - Hackers - Oct 24, 2025 IBM is claiming to have made serious progress with error correction on AMD chips. https://www.reuters.com/business/ibm-says-key-quantum-computing-algorithm-can-run-conventional-amd-chips-2025-10-24/ Error correction is important because it lets a quantum system work quickly with the data essentially filtered or analyzed for accuracy. When you have better error correction, you can technically have more errors in the first place. This leads to overall positive benefits in terms of computing power & reliability. Quote:SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 24 (Reuters) - IBM (IBM.N), opens new tab said on Friday it is able to run a key quantum computing error correction algorithm on commonly available chips from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O), in a step toward commercializing super-powerful computers. The leader of chips in the future won't be the chips that are best for crypto, or best for AI. It will be influenced by those, but the winner of the chips race will be whoever achieves a superior status in the quantum industry. The computing of quantum is millions of times faster than super computers for very specific calculations. As these cases become broader and quantum overtakes traditional computers for more use cases, there will be less and less focus on normal computer chip setups. It's not a matter of if, but when. The only barrier is how many qubits can be harnessed reliably. Error correction improvements allow for more qubits, more errors, but higher overall accuracy and computing capabilities. RE: IBM makes progress with AMD chips for quantum error correction - SIM-4716193 - Oct 27, 2025 One of the biggest bets in my portfolio has been AMD & I acquired most of its stocks when the price was between 108-115 this year. It was so badly beaten down & under the radar because of the Nvidia frenzy that I thought it should not go down any further! AMD was earlier living under the shadows of intel & now under nvidia. But with quantum technology & by proving its relevance (in many cases better than intel or nvidia), I feel this is a long term bet! AMD is a good buy, as-is Intel, Nvidia, and a few other similar companies. Checkout Nebius stock too sometime, it's AI but has physical infrastructure work too. All of these companies will thrive with what's coming |
