I thought this was enabled by default for users, but I just learned today that it isn't - and it explains why I was only seeing my own threads there.
This Default Thread Subscription Mode set to "No Notification" allows you to be notified when threads you replied to get new replies, without spamming your notifications or messages.

This "Thread Subscriptions with new posts" pops up with threads in your UserCP when threads you posted on previously get new posts.

What do users think about enabling this by default?
Idk about everyone else, but when I see activity somewhere I've posted before, I like to continue the discussion.
Without this, users typically only reply again if they are quoted.
By enabling this type of thread subscription and disabling this "Receive notifications for new posts in your created and subscribed threads." in Notification Settings, they can prevent these thread subscriptions from spamming their notifications.

Overall I think this type of feature should be revisited. I am not sure if notifications for every reply is the answer, but I do know that I miss anyone replying to me that doesn't actually quote me.
It should be a default for new users. I think it will boost engagement.
I don't always revisit threads - some yes, but not all.

When you say notification, you mean the view on UserCP?
Or a literal notification in the "Notifications" popup?

Ah, I thought it would notify us as well
Maybe there's a way to do something with notifications though in the future, if not supported now...
some sort of grouped notification:
"5 more users replied to X"
"20 users replied to Y"
Some sort of way to notify a user that they engaged in a discussion that has a lot of activity in it after their post could be interesting
My bad though if I misunderstood your idea here. I thought subscriptions would also notify per reply.
Haven't used the CP for that in years on forums in general, not just here
