Finding logins to academic websites - Somebody_ - Nov 10, 2025

As the title says, I found a way to bypass the paywall of websites (not all, but many) like culturegrams.com from ProQuest.

Zero hacking involved. but Is there any interest or should i keep it to myself?

Hi, it depends if you can make profit of it or not.

Besides, there are different kind of paywalls, for some of them you must be registered and shouldn't be able to bypass it. If you find a method for those and it's not known, it could worth some $ :
  • Hard paywall: content is only served after server-side authentication/subscription.

  • Metered paywall: free access for n articles, tracked via cookie or account.

  • Soft paywall / registration wall: asks for registration but sometimes leaves part of the content free.

  • Client-side overlays: JS/CSS overlays that hide text on the client, though real control is often server-side.

  • Token/session control: access via a token tied to the account/subscription.

However there are a lot of different and well-known methods / tools already, such as :

- archive.is
- archive.md
- inspect method and removal de div / script
- Bypass Paywall Clean
