Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - Hackers - Dec 4, 2025 I do not think it's useful for conversation or the socket health to have every single flip trigger a new msg in convo.php Flip hide is great, but it can be tough because then people silently kill conversations with excessive flips and users who hide the flips don't realize. It can also be annoying when users discuss flips, making it feel like you need /flip show just to know what they're talking about. I think that flip messages should somehow be merged into 1 msg with an edit event, or at least to visually merge the notifications in HTML/CSS to avoid the websocket dev required. this would lower the number of notification pings, which is a reason many people mute the site. If less people mute, then more people will be notified of real convos which will boost engagement too. I think this is obviously a nice-to-have suggestion but it's one I feel like many people have thought about in convo.php. Seeing every single flip individually is not a helpful feature imho. I don't think having 10 separate flip messages is much different than seeing 1 rolling total for a single user. My suggestion is that if a user flips more than once in a row, each new flip just edits the previous flip message visually. If another user flips then it could reset this The reason I am suggesting this is because if you do it this way then you can create HTML opens & closes for /flip events per-UID and dynamically wrap the messages together without having to redevelop the core socket. It's a workaround but it has the same benefits imho. RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - Terry A. Davis - Dec 4, 2025 If I get tired of seeing the flip messages I use Code /flip hideThat does the job for me, I don't know if it still sends messages across the socket, also, for the size of the message is it worth the time? Would it even really matter? Though, I do somewhat like this idea, if you had the main tile, you'd expand update with subsequent flips of the user, then you can track their betting progress from one panel, then expand it to show all? Yeah, that would be cool. LMK if you'd like to make the edits for us. Should be doable client side. https://hackforums.net/jscripts/convo_1c.js RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - CL1B - Dec 4, 2025 Omniscient User flips within 30 seconds of previous flip, updates previous flip bubble with new results and combined profit/loss instead of rendering new bubble: Updated Convo Client Code (Click to View) RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - Hackers - Dec 5, 2025 (Dec 4, 2025 08:29 PM)MarlboroMan Wrote: Omniscient User flips within 30 seconds of previous flip, updates previous flip bubble with new results and combined profit/loss instead of rendering new bubble: Nice, I was going to take a stab at it, but went to bed early thanks Marl RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - Omniscient - Dec 6, 2025 Remind me in a week about this code. I of course have to do a compare and test it. But I'll implement if that's what members want. RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - jcole - Dec 6, 2025 Good suggestion that will keep convo from being clogged up with flips. RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - Jamika - Dec 7, 2025 Nice suggestion nodes , hope omni can apply it soon RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - SwimmingPool - Dec 7, 2025 love this idea RE: Merge same-user flip msgs in convo.php - Terry A. It helps keep convos clean, while allowing people to see flips going on, without flooding the chat. I suspect it would be a welcome change. Though, I am not the whole member base, some might like having their convo screen blowup with flips in between a serious chat. I suspect it would be a welcome change. nothing like having a discussion while someone else /flips 50x , and then 3 others talk about 5 of those /flips, while others have it all hidden. It becomes a cluster* of a chat I hope we can see this soon & will ping Omni in a few days to see if we can get this in place :) I'm excited for those reasons and to finally unmute HF after all this time. The original flip message shows up momentarily until the flip result is dispatched, then it disappears. Also, the flip event provides the UID, not sure why you're parsing it back off the HTML element. I have a local script I can try from the other day, I just stopped on it that night before you submitted yours because I got tired. Pretty sure it got close but I need to figure out why my ext wasn't auto injecting the script instead of the default. I never got to fully test it |
