Are there any limitations on the size of an NVMe/SATA per slot?! - aerohacker - Dec 23, 2025

I intend to buy a notebook that has 2 M.2 NVMe slots and a SATA slot, on the official website it says that the total storage is 6 TB, implying that I can only use 2 TB in each slot, I wanted to use 2 SSDs NVMe 4 TB on M.2 slots and one HD 2.5" 5 TB on SATA slot, but I wanted to be sure if it will recognize the total on all storage slots.

Official specs don't list total possible capacity. Any NVMe slot will take up to 8GB. SATA interfaces similarly are only restricted by physical size.

"The GIGABYTE G7 with an Intel Core i7-10870H processor can support a total storage capacity of up to 6TB, typically configured with a combination of SSD and HDD options. This allows for ample space for games, applications, and files."

"The GIGABYTE G7 with an Intel Core i7-10870H typically supports a maximum SSD size of 2TB per slot, allowing for a total storage capacity of up to 6TB with multiple slots."

"The G7 is designed for high performance, making it suitable for gaming and multitasking. Each M.2 slot can support SSDs up to 2 TB, allowing for significant storage capacity."

The official website said this information, but then there would be two alternatives - the 6 TB would be related to each SSD coming with 2 TB from the factory, so this total would not be a limitation or really be a limitation, another detail is that maybe at the time the notebook was released there was no SSD NVME 4 TB or 8 TB, I also believe that it can use SSD NVME 4 TB or 8 TB, As well as HD SATA 2.5" 5 TB or SSD SATA 8 TB. But it's because it seems that there are certain models of notebooks that have this "limitation" depending on the PCH of the board and so on.

I don't have any SSD NVME 4 TB or 8 TB that I can use to test if it will recognize the full capacity or only the 2 TB per slot, so the question remains.
