Zcash Dev's Quit - Omniscient - Jan 8, 2026
Rumor has it the Dev's of ZCASH all quit. I have not confirmed this as true but would not shock me. I will be making a thread about my ZEC experience shortly. I've spent a couple weeks trying to use their ecosystem. It's garbage.

All departing devs remain focused on Zcash and future Zcash development. They left to escape shackles imposed by Bootstrap that made it increasingly difficult to contribute towards Zcash's future.

ZEC down 10%, Monero up 5%
I just sold all the ZEC I had that I've been experimenting with.

SUI is going to be the ZEC replacement with their optional privacy feature in the future. I hope it isn’t as bad as ZEC though.

Zcash in freefall down 12% today to $372 while XMR up 3% to $467.

They left the company which was a nonprofit to create a new entity. The entire team which quit is still going to work on zcash but they are creating a new wallet

Yeah, but this really fucks up the reputation. They should make a new project entirely
That said... crypto people have short memories and fundamentals have never been required from the gamblers.

Damn, didn't expect to see this so early into Q1. It's also now confirmed that the team behind Zcash did resign en masse on January 7th, 2026. All apparently due to a governance dispute with the board. They're currently in the process of forming a new company.

XMR reached its ATH the other day, was awesome to see. I got lucky and swapped a bunch into XMR back in November 2025 after seeing it skyrocket from around $350 to $450 in a 24 hour period. Happened early in November iirc. Right now I'm sitting happy with XMR.
