Crypto popular than the stock market. - Noble - Feb 11, 2026 On HF, Crypto is more popular than the stock market. Crypto is discussed more than any other type of market. I'm trying to understand the reason why. Crypto is newer than the stock market; the stock market has been around for a very long time and has many different asset classes, but it's the least-discussed on this forum compared to crypto. RE: Crypto popular than the stock market. - IRLCash - Feb 22, 2026 The reason why is probably because we are all like younger people and more likely to have grown up around Crypto vs old 59 year old people that grew up putting money into the stock market. Crypto has that get rich quick crap too. Everything thinks if they find the next one to moon they'll 100x in a few months. I'm a very traditional investor with long-term holdings. I prefer the stock market actually for long-term stable gains. If people approached crypto market in the same way they'd only invest into Bitcoin. BTC is the most solid coin IMO. Pull up the site, look at the whitepaper, check out the community online, etc I would note that you don't really need to be that good at picking individual companies either in today's age of ETFs and index funds. Plunking down some money on VOO/SPY/QQQ or any similar funds is highly likely to produce good results on par or better than even the best fund managers. When I search those on Google (VOO/SPY/QQQ) I see that they are up like 15-17% for the year, so gains beyond that are pretty rare? The long term stock market average is only around 12% or so depending which indexes you measure against. There have been years upwards of 30% as well, but remember long term means 30+ years, not the length of a short form video that many young people can't maintain attention for. At least with stocks comes with voting powers, dividends and ownership of a company. It’s not as volatile as crypto. Also heavily regulated and it’s not the place for people to commit fraud or money launder. I wish my parents had gotten into those stocks with dividends we'd be rolling in the money instead they were kinda dumb with their finances. Crypto is still fairly new, and imo the stock market is more beginner-friendly than the crypto market. Many different ways you can invest within the stock market, and more options are available compared to crypto. It's easier to get into, and if you really invested in learning, the stock market will make you a better investor than crypto starting off. |
