You wont be able to install "Etcher" on latest Kali Linux (Debian 13) <-> Here is FIX - Warmachine.exe - Feb 27, 2026

On Debian 13 & Kali Linux you wont be able to install "Etcher" tool, which is Linux alternative of Window's "Rufus" to burn bootable ISO's on to USB Drives. You will just get this error:

That happens because of Etcher's latest official release still depends on the legacy libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0, but the correct package name is libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0 (with hyphen). We can fix this our selves by patching the control file and rebuilding the package.

Code
dpkg-deb -R balena-etcher_*.deb etcher-fix
sed -i 's/libgdk-pixbuf2\.0-0/libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0/g' etcher-fix/DEBIAN/control
dpkg-deb -b etcher-fix balena-etcher-fixed_2.1.4_amd64.deb
sudo apt install ./balena-etcher-fixed_*.deb

This fix is working perfectly and it does the job. I am sure they will patch this bug soon, but I decided to make this post for those who encounter the same error while they have not released a properly working version.
