Claude Code Concepts Explained, Prompts, Permissions, Tools, Memory & Automation - JoseMar - Mar 8, 2026 Claude Code Concepts Explained, Prompts, Permissions, Tools, Memory & Automation ![]() Hi HF users, Today I will talk about Claude Code I just went down a rabbit hole reading about this tool, and I'm kinda sitting here like… wait, what? Because if this thing works the way they're describing it, it's basically an AI that runs your terminal from plain English. Yeah. Literally. You type something like “create a script that organizes my files and pushes them to Git” and it just… does it. No 400 lines of setup. No digging through documentation for 20 minutes. Just normal language. And the more I read about it the more I realized this isn't just another AI wrapper. It’s more like an automation layer sitting on top of your system. Which is either insanely powerful… or slightly terrifying depending on how you look at it. Anyway, figured I'd post about it here because I doubt most people have seen the full breakdown yet. ![]() So What Claude Code Actually Does From what I understand, Claude Code basically turns natural language into system actions. Not just text responses, Actual commands, File creation, Script generation, Running shell tasks, Organizing directories. All from plain English. Which honestly feels weirdly obvious now that I think about it. Like… why have we been writing half our commands manually for years? But the interesting part is that it runs inside the terminal environment, not some isolated chat interface. So it can interact with your real system. And yeah, before anyone asks, there are permission controls. Otherwise this thing would be a disaster waiting to happen. You decide what files it can touch, what commands it can run, and what it should stay away from. Which is probably the only reason I'd even consider letting an AI run anything locally. ![]() The Part That Actually Blew My Mind There's a file called claude.md, it's basically where you define rules for how the AI behaves in your project. Think of it like a configuration brain. You can set preferences, instructions, workflow rules, whatever. Example:
So instead of repeating instructions every session, the AI just follows the rules you defined. Which… if you've ever tried prompting AI repeatedly for the same thing… you know why this matters. No more explaining your coding style every five minutes. ![]() Parallel Workflows and AI Sub-Agents Claude Code apparently supports work trees and sub-agents. Meaning you can split tasks into parallel environments.
I had to reread that section twice because it sounded like one of those “AI team” marketing buzzwords, but apparently it actually works through isolated environments. Which makes sense if you think about it. You avoid breaking your main project while the AI experiments somewhere else. Smart. ![]() Why This Might Be Bigger Than It Looks Most people think AI tools are just chatbots.
Claude Code feels different. It's more like AI operating infrastructure. Instead of telling you how to do something, it just… does it.
And apparently it even tracks token usage and cost, so heavy workflows don't spiral out of control. Which tells me they expect people to run serious automation pipelines with this. Not just toy projects. I don't know if this is the future of dev tools or just another experiment that fades in a year. But if even half of this works the way they describe… we're basically moving from coding commands to describing outcomes. And that shift alone feels kind of huge. Curious if anyone here has actually tried running Claude Code locally yet. Because I'm honestly tempted to test it. Also slightly worried I'll let it reorganize my entire filesystem by accident. Cheers guys! 🙂 RE: Claude Code Concepts Explained, Prompts, Permissions, Tools, Memory & Automation - casperr - Mar 8, 2026 Nice post. If anybody has access to my claude.md, what will they be able to see inside it? Glad you like it, mate! Hope you find some other threads that are also really good.💯🙂 RE: Claude Code Concepts Explained, Prompts, Permissions, Tools, Memory & Automation - MaîtreCornichon - Jun 8, 2026 This sounds like a game changer for automation; simplifying tasks will definitely improve productivity. |
