What is really the best language to learn - hackerman101 - Mar 18, 2026 i was doing my research and just cant rly decide, what do you recommend? RE: What is really the best language to learn - SIM-5452967 - Mar 18, 2026 This really depends on your goals, but here's an honest breakdown: There's no single "best" — but there are best choices for you. Get a job fast -> JavaScript or Python. They dominate job listings, have massive communities, and you can build real things quickly. Data science / AI / ML -> Python — no debate. It's the lingua franca of the field. Web frontend -> JavaScript (then TypeScript once you're comfortable). There's literally no alternative. Mobile apps -> Swift (iOS) or Kotlin (Android). Or React Native/Flutter if you want cross-platform. Systems programming / performance -> Rust or C++. Rust is the modern choice; C++ still dominates game dev and legacy systems. Enterprise / backend -> Java or C# — still power a huge chunk of the world's software. Academia / research -> Python, R, or Julia depending on the field. If You're a Complete Beginner Python is genuinely the best starting point. RE: What is really the best language to learn - Anonynuk - Sep 24, 2026 Everyone says start with Python.... Honestly I'm 43 and I started I guess with Batch and Visual Basic (before .net). I found that Visual Basic was fairly easy to learn - and this was before online tutorials, etc... So, personally I'd go with that. |
