Kali / Parrot freezing up in VM / Install? - MadScientist - Mar 24, 2026 Curious if anyone else has this issue, sometimes my mouse stops clicking in Kali, generally top half is unclickable but usable via keyboard micros but Parrot OS just stops interacting completely and mouse cursor doesnt show on screen anymore? Decided to install Kali and its doing the same bs, just becomes click unresponsive - despite the cursor moving in the VM or Install? Going to just go bare bones Fluxbox next but its frustrating as I have wrist issues and those save me a ton of keyboard time / wrist ware. Using VirtualBox as VM and USB SSD for installs.. used both these since back when Kali as Backtrack without issue but been pretty consistent the last year (maybe new laptop?) RE: Kali / Parrot freezing up in VM / Install? - Mаtt - Mar 24, 2026 Does it only happen on those VMs? I'd check how the VM is configured and the computer you're also using to run the VMs. Keep in mind that when you run VMs, you're sharing resources between the Host and Guest OS'es. You may already know that, but I'm just saying it as a reminder. Posting your configuration for the VM may help with troubleshooting as well as knowing your current computer specs. RE: Kali / Parrot freezing up in VM / Install? - DramaKing - Mar 24, 2026 Check for VB updates? RE: Kali / Parrot freezing up in VM / Install? - psickophant - Apr 1, 2026 Ah yes. I have been experiencing the same issue with both Kali and Parrot on Virtualbox. I believe it has to do with the way the host captures the cursor from, the VM. I was able to overcome the annoyance by installing the most recent headers and kernel update. For me it is Arch linux but it should work the same no matter the linux distro. You should also ensure that Guest-editions is installed for the same version. I will warn that if the install is not done completely a kernel issue may arise requiring the reinstallation of the kernel to resolve the issue. I had this happen previouslyand I did need to reinstall the kernel. It did work normally after the reinstallation. |
