Interest in any branch of anime culture or something similar? - TheNaturalBoy - Mar 30, 2026

Hey everyone, this time it’s a genuine and curious question—do any of you have a particular interest in any branch or subculture of anime, geek culture, or anything like that?

Personally, I don’t really watch anime anymore. Some sites aren’t very reliable, and my internet is slow. Nowadays, I just end up watching short summaries, clips, shorts, or reels about random things—whether it’s some generic seasonal anime or even a classic.

Do any of you have a hobby related to anime, manga, or geek culture that you never fully developed? Whether it’s because of lack of time, resources, or just plain laziness?

I don't watch anymore either unless it's a new Gundam or something. Now I just enjoy building the Gunpla model kits..

Are you referring to those figures that come on plastic sheets? Damn, aren’t those things really expensive? I imagine it must be a nightmare to break or lose a piece during the assembly process

Nah not all expensive, the kit you posted in pic is about $10-15 lol

Is that really how much it costs? I thought it was actually expensive. Though if I convert it to Mexican pesos, that amount is enough for a rotisserie chicken and a soda (damn, I love that rotisserie chicken example haha)

download shows from the cat site that are mini encodes from groups like judas/ember, which are generally <4gb for 12ep and <9gb for 24ep

I recommend installing this browser extension https://github.com/Arad119/Nyaa-Enhancer?tab=readme-ov-file#installation

and qbittorrent https://www.qbittorrent.org/download

do NOT use utorrent, uninstall that garbage if you already have it

if you already have experience doing this kinda stuff you can skip the rest of this reply, if not:

when searching on the cat site, change "all categories" to "english-translated" or whatever you prefer and search for the quality + group name + anime name + batch

so for example, "1080 ember apothecary diaries batch", sometimes batch won't give results, so you can just remove it

sometimes you won't be able to find a single file with all of the episodes so you'll have to get each episode individually, which is where the browser extension comes in handy

some groups also release 720p, so you can try that instead of 1080 for smaller files

if you're on PC, qbittorrent should pop open a window, if you're on mac you'll need to open qbittorrent and click the (-) looking button top left, which should auto populate the text box, and then click download

select "download in sequential order", and "download first and last pieces first"

the first will download the episodes in order, and the second will allow you to watch episode 1 while it's still downloading (depending on how slow your internet really is)

while you watch the first couple of episodes, the rest of the anime will have finished downloading

when it's finished downloading you can pause it so that it doesn't use your upload bandwidth, or you can seed it for others

and when you're done watching just right click the show, delete, checkmark delete files

you can also go into settings and make it auto pause when downloads are finished

if necessary, you can also throttle the upload/download speeds

Damn, this is gold. Let me save it and look into it a bit more. My computer is basically a toaster, but I might still be able to make something work. Recently, thanks to Venice.ia, I discovered something called 'yt-dlp'—it was a huge headache to set up, but now I can download old Mexican movies I find on YouTube, as well as documentaries and some music :3

Thanks a lot for the info, I’ll read through it and try to put it into practice.
