Anyone still using forums daily? - waraktis - Apr 29, 2026 Most people moved to Discord/Telegram but forums still feel more organized. Do you guys still check forums daily or just occasionally now? RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - HerrWinston - Apr 29, 2026 I only use this forum daily, everything else is handled over Discord for me, I rarely look at telegram or anything else tho. This place has given alot of info to me, would feel bad to just stop being here :) RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Deany - Apr 29, 2026 I only use HF. Super glad it has Sports Book. I am addicted! Haha yeah HF got some solid sections, didn’t expect to spend that much time here either 😄 RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Hackers - Apr 29, 2026 I don't really use the chat apps because they can be too distracting. I've gone back & forth over the years. I like forums because you can close them and come back when you want to, whereas a chat app is more "current" and it's not really set up for someone to come back to a discussion from 3 weeks ago Chat apps are superior to forums in today's times, just like social media platforms are for the majority of people. But as a guy who grew up on forums in 90s-2000s, it's hard to leave something like this behind. RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Mercury - Apr 29, 2026 For the most part, I'm on here every day. I do occasionally take a hiatus and there are days that I lurk without posting but I'm on here pretty religiously anymore. I can't stand the fact that forums as a concept are declining. Yeah kinda same, even if not posting I still end up checking in daily 😅 forums just have a different feel. RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Edmond Dantes - Apr 30, 2026 I love lurking in the forum daily, there is always something interesting:) RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - waraktis - Apr 30, 2026 (Apr 30, 2026 04:35 AM)Edmond Dantes Wrote: I love lurking in the forum daily, there is always something interesting:) wow RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Hackers - Apr 30, 2026 (Apr 30, 2026 03:40 AM)waraktis Wrote: True, do you think forums will stick around long term or slowly fade out with chat apps taking over? Forums are uniquely equipped to store information long-term in a social style... I think we will see the structure of forums stick around forever, but how it looks could and SHOULD change. A social media app is like a forum, but people are posting threads in their own section (profile), and the experience is easier to use on mobile (or any other) than a traditional forum. Reddit is a forum. YouTube has categorization, threads (videos), and replies. A website with subfolders/ and pages and user comments... Forum. For me, forums will always be around. Anytime people join together to discuss different ideas, with some set ground rules & moderation... categories... custom posts from users.... replies... a forum. But no, I don't think Mybb, vBulletin, IPB, SMF, XenForo, etc will be around forever unless they get with the program and actually modernize their UIs. Every single one of those companies dropped the damn ball over 10 years ago and it's a shame. RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Rahul007rhp - Apr 30, 2026 I do use forum daily , read around variours topics & chill RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Hackers - Apr 30, 2026 (Apr 30, 2026 06:57 AM)waraktis Wrote: Yeah makes sense, the idea of forums is still alive, just wrapped differently now. Yeah exactly, the important things: - community - ideas - learning - entertainment - freedom of speech - ideally free - available to all RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - Sift - Apr 30, 2026 I just recently got back to hf after a decade of being closed but I try to be active everyday. RE: Anyone still using forums daily? - RangoWorld - Apr 30, 2026 I do. I try to at least check-in daily not just on this forum but multiple others. I grew up in a generation where forum era was part of my life. |
