Can anyone explain please. Doesnt make sense for me. Can they please add it as an option or will it be too difficult?

I'm not sure. But why would you need to unread it when you've read it? It's not a privacy thing like whatsapp where the other person will know if you opened a message notification.

The alerts are there to remind you. Only when you read the notifications is when they go away. After which point what's the use for a reminder?
