Infamous Easter Eggs - Mix - May 13, 2026 So I recently have been having some fun with finding "Easter Eggs" in games. Mainly finding old games I played years ago as I sadly dont have as much time these days for gaming anymore. But I wanted to share with you all a easter egg or two I have found out about recently from a few old classic games I have played in the past.
So I came across a video on YouTube talking about the first ever Easter egg within a game. The Easter egg was in the game due to the developers not being allowed to have any credits within the game, and so they made the decision to hide them within the game instead. This was hidden well enough so that the play testers and publishers wouldn't be able to access the area easily. This Easter egg was within the game "Adventure (1980)" Example of the Easter egg screen Spoiler (Click to View) Crazy to think back in the 80s publishers didn't want to give credit to hard work. Shameful if you ask me. Another Easter egg I came across hits home a little bit as its a classic game I played as a youngster. From the game Mario 64 there is a small plaque within the castle garden that was very hard to read. It turns out the plaque says "L is real 2401", which for many years made players think there was another step to this little Easter egg to play as Luigi. Sadly, in the original release there wasn't any way to do this, yet in later versions, like on the Nintendo DS, they were added. Crazy to think that it was hidden in plain sight all along, but due to hardware limits at the time, the plaque was a little secret everyone thought so much of. With this thread I hope I have shared something you may have never known about, but now you do. If anyone has any Easter eggs they have come across they would like to share with the community, I feel like it would be a great thread to do so. As always, thank you everyone for reading, as I hope this has been a great little read for everyone. RE: Infamous Easter Eggs - Wake - May 14, 2026 I feel like video games don't really leave Easter eggs anymore? One of my favourites I found organically has to be the beating heart inside the statue of happiness in grand theft auto 4. RE: Infamous Easter Eggs - Skudge - May 14, 2026 I used be a part of a group that found video game glitches a good while a go and we always used to find easter eggs when we jumped out of the map. If I recall correctly, there were a lot still to this day that we found but haven't been uncovered anywhere. RE: Infamous Easter Eggs - Mercury - May 14, 2026 My favorite video game Easter egg is without a doubt being able to unlock the Reptile fight in the first Mortal Kombat game for Sega Genesis. Not every match on the specific "map" would allow you to do it; it was instead triggered by chance and it required you to win a double flawless victory against your opponent. Reptile has always been my favorite Mortal Kombat fighter. RE: Infamous Easter Eggs - DemonAsylum - May 31, 2026 I've always had a lot of love and appreciation for easter eggs in games, but never thought to look into the history of them, what the first ever one was, etc. Thanks for sharing this with all of us! |
