How to get free Shodan APIs? - Pickle Daddy - May 18, 2026
I desperatley need a free Shodan API key. I tried to scan GitHub, but all have 0 creds or are invalid. Any recomendations?

Most of the public GitHub ones are burned instantly now. Your best bet is honestly either student/research, verification for free credits or waiting for official promos/giveaways or just buying a lifetime membership when they discount it.
Everyone wants free Shodan keys these days so anything public gets abused within hours.

Pretty sure you need a .edu/student email for most of the educational offers. Some universities also partner with cybersecurity platforms directly. Worth checking their official site/docs because they occasionally open applications or free research access.

Is there an alternative to Shodan? Like something that will let me export data with free API?

Censys and Thingful will be paid, too. Servers cost money.

Use a .edu email for sign up. They give you more results than the free api keys.
