Quick Loves should bump threads - xadamxk - Jun 15, 2026

I'm not saying every Quick Love should trigger a post bump, but if a thread hasn't had a post in x hours (24?) then receiving a QL should bump it. Exclude the marketplace to prevent abuse, but as a contributor this has been driving me crazy.

I've created multiple threads contributing to the site (many others have as well) and users Quick Love to show appreciation but do not post.

I think QL adds value and don't wish for them to be removed, but it seems to cause members not to post, which helps the contribution stay relevant.

Look at the HF News or any tutorials being made - it happens everywhere.

Would love to see more topics that involve general conversation take priority over some of the tutorials, could possibly apply it to lounge posts to try contribute more growth and contributions on more general threads.

Like the idea, but I don't think it is needed.

People tend to reply way more than QL.

Example with your own threads (which are typically the type of posts that people QL the most)

11 quick loves / 89 replies - https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6312252

7 quick loves / 32 replies - https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=6325220

My threads get replies because I ask people to post or I post after a while when no one else has, so they aren't the best example.
Even then, I'm not saying they get more QL than posts, but the QLs come without posting, which buries the content.

I do sometimes leave a QL instead of a reply because I like the thread but have nothing to add.

So I support this, even though I don't think it's gonna be added.

How’s that?

This is only for the thread’s OP (a user can only QL it once) and excludes the marketplace (obvious reason to abuse that).

If you organized your multiple friends to QL a thread every day, nothing is stopping them from making daily posts (current system) right now.

But why don't they just post again instead of u pumping it in first place ?

That’s my point - people QL rather than post on contributing threads.

We have Bumps for Bytes. Why should a QL have the same function?

Yes, that. But it's really not a good reason to bump a thread over it.

I'll think more on this for you, but I don't see the benefit.

Are you able to easily query what percentage of Bumps are in the marketplace?
I can see the need and reason to pay for bumps there.

But for contributions (tutorials, releases, etc.) it just sucks putting hours into something, and getting more QLs than posts, then the thread dies.
As a contributor it feels like shit.

What you're proposing is basically an automated post whenever someone does a QL. It would make more sense the post came from the member giving the QL than from Stanley.

But this would just create a ton of low quality, exactly the same posts, all over the forums.

What you want is more activity on the forums. A bunch of bump posts are not that.

Stop expecting activity on HF. I've literally done contests to give out thousands of dollars and it barely matters.

We're mostly marketplace forum now. The interest in posting is minimal at best.

I’ve come to the conclusion that you are correct.

Closing this.
