[TUTORIAL] Auto-Scroll DeepSeek Chat to Bottom - Console Script

Hey everyone,

I've been using DeepSeek's chat interface and found it annoying that new messages don't always auto-scroll to the bottom, especially when the chat gets long. So I made a simple JavaScript snippet that you can run from your browser's developer console to force the chat to scroll all the way down.

What this does
  • []Finds the main chat content area (not the sidebar)
    []Automatically scrolls it to the very bottom
  • Works with smooth scrolling animation

How to use
  1. []Open DeepSeek Chat in your browser (Chrome recommended)
    []Press F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I to open Developer Tools
    []Click on the "Console" tab
    []Paste the following code and press Enter

The Code

Code
// DeepSeek Chat - Scroll Main Chat Area to Bottom
(function() {
    // Find the main chat content area (not the sidebar)
    const mainSelectors = [
        '.chat-content',
        '.chat-main',
        '.conversation-content',
        '.message-container',
        '[class*="chat-content"]',
        '[class*="conversation"]',
        'main > div:not([class*="sidebar"])',
        '.flex-1.overflow-y-auto',
        '.overflow-y-auto:not([class*="sidebar"])'
    ];

    let chatContainer = null;

    // Try to find the main chat container
    for (const selector of mainSelectors) {
        const elements = document.querySelectorAll(selector);
        for (const el of elements) {
            // Check if this is the chat area (not sidebar)
            const isSidebar = el.closest('[class*="sidebar"]') ||
                             el.closest('[class*="side-bar"]') ||
                             el.closest('nav') ||
                             el.closest('aside');

            if (!isSidebar && el.scrollHeight > el.clientHeight + 10) {
                chatContainer = el;
                break;
            }
        }
        if (chatContainer) break;
    }

    // If still not found, find any overflow-y-auto div that's not in sidebar
    if (!chatContainer) {
        const allScrollable = document.querySelectorAll('.overflow-y-auto, [style*="overflow-y"]');
        for (const el of allScrollable) {
            const isSidebar = el.closest('[class*="sidebar"]') ||
                             el.closest('[class*="side-bar"]') ||
                             el.closest('nav') ||
                             el.closest('aside');

            if (!isSidebar && el.scrollHeight > el.clientHeight + 10) {
                chatContainer = el;
                break;
            }
        }
    }

    // Scroll the chat container
    if (chatContainer) {
        chatContainer.scrollTop = chatContainer.scrollHeight;
        chatContainer.scrollTo({
            top: chatContainer.scrollHeight,
            behavior: 'smooth'
        });
        console.log('✅ Scrolled main chat to bottom');
    } else {
        // Fallback: find all scrollable elements and scroll the one with most content
        let bestMatch = null;
        let maxHeight = 0;
        document.querySelectorAll('*').forEach(el => {
            if (el.scrollHeight > el.clientHeight + 10) {
                const isSidebar = el.closest('[class*="sidebar"]') || el.closest('nav') || el.closest('aside');
                if (!isSidebar && el.scrollHeight > maxHeight) {
                    maxHeight = el.scrollHeight;
                    bestMatch = el;
                }
            }
        });

        if (bestMatch) {
            bestMatch.scrollTop = bestMatch.scrollHeight;
            console.log('✅ Scrolled main area to bottom');
        } else {
            window.scrollTo(0, document.body.scrollHeight);
            console.log('⚠️ Scrolled page to bottom (fallback)');
        }
    }
})();

What happens next
  • []The chat will smoothly scroll to the bottom
    []You'll see a confirmation message in the console
  • If it can't find the chat container, it will fallback to scrolling the whole page

Tips
  • []You can bookmark this as a snippet in Chrome DevTools for quick access
    []If the chat updates with new messages, just run the script again
  • Works on both the web version and any wrapper sites

Let me know if you have any issues or suggestions for improvements

Note This is for personal use only and doesn't modify the site permanently - just a one-time scroll action
[/code]
