[BUG ] Hackforums False ban bug Omniscient read this - geoshot - Jul 16, 2026

Dear hackforums, Omniscient founder

I hope this message gets spread around to you because i don't know how to make a report,

I would like to report a possible false ban issue on your website.

Refreshing the website repeatedly (Ctrl + R) appears to trigger a 1-day ban for suspected bot activity.
I am not sure if this affects all users, but I recommend testing it with a test account to confirm.

This could lead to users being accidentally banned and may also create unnecessary false-ban logs.
I suggest reviewing and adjusting the detection system to prevent this.

Ban notice (7/15/2026): https://ibb.co/v6QfZ0qT

if this is action is taken, I want my account be clean and cleared all false bans.

Hackforums members if you see this post make sure share this to Omniscient spread the message
Thank you for looking into this issue.

People can be socially engineered into getting their accounts banned. This is a serious security issue. I know the anti bot system is new, but I found my first bug on the website. I'm happy I could help.

I was trying to see if I had any new notifications on the website. Sometimes I repeatedly press Ctrl+R to refresh the page, and I ended up getting banned for possible bot activity. I don't think that's right, or that the system should be designed that way. Someone could even be socially engineered into repeatedly refreshing the page and end up getting their account banned. I'm sharing this as feedback because I think it's something that should be improved.

The notifications pop up automatically if your on almost any if not all HF pages already. If not you only need to reload once.

As far as I'm aware this isn’t a bug and this is working as intended. Not to sound like a dick but why are you refreshing the page repeatedly like that?

Ah I see. Yeah it is definitely best to just click the top of the page once when you want to check on that.

I've sent two letters overnight to Omni's PO box this week with regarding this, and a fax of the thread in .PDF format.

I’m curious if omni got any idea why it happened.

Probably hitting a API limit of some sort and triggering the ban because it thinks your trying to crash the server.
