Wreckage of plane that crashed finally discovered 74 years later - Μinimalist - Jul 22, 2026 Wreckage of plane that crashed and killed 52 passengers finally discovered 74 years later The crash led to some serious changes in the aviation industry We're all used to the pre-flight safety routine by now but that only came into existence after 52 people died in a plane crash back in 1952. When the Pan American Airways passenger plane Clipper Endeavor crashed into the water around 10 minutes after setting off on its journey from Puerto Rico to New York, the plane remained remarkably intact, with no fatalities at that point. However, the lack of safety information at that time meant that many of the passengers were unwilling to exit the plane, which tragically led to 52 people drowning as the aircraft sunk below the water. Rescue crews were only able to save five crew members and 12 passengers, while the wreckage of the plane sunk to the ocean floor and has been lost for the past 74 years. But last month, the wreckage was discovered on 2 June by a team of the Air/Sea Heritage Foundation, alongside Deep Sea Vision, the eco minerals company and the Discovery Channel’s series Expedition Unknown following a seven-year investigation. "Seeing the bright aluminium fuselage shining back at us from the ocean floor was a hugely emotional moment," said Expedition Unknown host Josh Gates in a Warner Bros Discovery press release. Although the 1952 incident was obviously a tragedy because of the lives lost, it is thought that the subsequent safety procedures that were introduced in the aftermath of the incident have helped to save thousands of lives in the years since. https://www.ladbible.com/news/world-news/pan-am-flight-1952-wreckage-found-science-world-982821-20260722?utm_content=lad&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwY2xjawTNptZleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETEyOUdnaW1iaDRlSjIzYXo4c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHstC-u1UrHnh21brIE0LTCShxZfajaoyM259xc0_bA08Aoxvk5rZ2Pux7RPH_aem_qmquas3U0_1sR9_rpc8G2w RE: Wreckage of plane that crashed finally discovered 74 years later - Pr0m3th3us - Jul 22, 2026 Iv often wondered how many lost things are at the bottom of the ocean. I was just thinking the other day actually about buildings, temples, statues, ships, etc from the ancient Greeks and even before. The ocean is truly the last frontier. Its crazy to think we will likely put a man on Mars before we get to the bottom of the deepest part of our oceans.....fucking wild. RE: Wreckage of plane that crashed finally discovered 74 years later - XtremeDiscount - Jul 22, 2026 Wow where did they find it? Hard to believe a whole airplane can essentially disappear for 75 years. Wow RE: Wreckage of plane that crashed finally discovered 74 years later - Incomprehensible - Jul 22, 2026 No matter how many safety checks or re-assurance, I can never get comfortable on a plane. If sky bus fails, it's over RE: Wreckage of plane that crashed finally discovered 74 years later - TB12 - Jul 23, 2026 Heartbreaking that they were fortunate enough to survive the crash, but not leaving the plane made them die an even worse way. |
