A possible additional layer of anonymity - denekzah - Sep 3, 2026 Hello, I was thinking about something. It’s quite difficult, but I think it could provide another level of anonymity. First, you would need a SIM card that isn’t connected to your identity. Like a prepaid one or one from a used phone at a flea market, although there may be other options. At the moment, that’s the only method I can think of. The next step would be to buy a Raspberry Pi and a USB mobile dongle so the Raspberry Pi can use mobile data. You could then place the Raspberry Pi somewhere nearby, such as in a streetlight or another suitable location, and host a VPN connection on it. This would allow you to use it as a proxy before connecting to Tor or another privacy network. Note: Since the device would be located near you, you might have a little time to remove your data if it were compromised or discovered. You should also encrypt sensitive data and configure a secure remote-wipe or data-erasure procedure for your own information. What do you think? Are there any weaknesses in this approach, or are there safer and more reliable ways to improve online privacy? RE: A possible additional layer of anonymity - kommer2016 - Sep 4, 2026 You can pull off the same setup with a 4G router and an encrypted laptop running Tails! |
