hello everyone (smartscreen "more information") - cricketau - Sep 10, 2026

Hello everyone. How do you sign an executable and that SmartScreen does not ask to press "More information" so that the "execute" button is seen. do you pay for the certificate or is there a method to evade it? thank you very much

I've seen some people talk about: https://www.malwarebytes.com/blog/news/2025/01/7-zip-bug-could-allow-a-bypass-of-a-windows-security-feature-update-now

You usually would get a code signing cert, which means moolah.

So maybe try the above if at all possible.

I just need at least the "run" button to appear. Has anyone experimented with placing a special editor name or something that smartscreen allows you to do this?

Currently, it seems that you need to buy an EV cert, and then after your file gets some reputation, it gets whitelisted. https://www.digicert.com/signing/code-signing-certificates

You can't alter SmartScreen functionality, and the Run button does appear for me.
