Man oh man do I miss the days before social media... Or at least when it was just MySpace.
But I have to say, it would be awesome if I could hop in an IRC chat again someday. Back several years ago when I started playing Minecraft that was the main form of contact for everyone in the server, outside of the server, and I remember so many late nights just having a blast chatting with people around the world.
IRC. Internet Relay Chat. That's what I'd bring back from the "old internet" days. How about you?

There are a few members from here I'd like to say hello and see how their life evolved past here, but my namesake would be the one person I wish I could bring back, just to see God's temple be made again.

Forums.
They used to be so active, and you'd have entire forums built out for one specific topic. There was a super active Call of Duty 4 forum I was apart of, which seems crazy to think of now. An entire forum for 1 game? Not even a general gaming forum.

I'm right there with you on the IRC thing and the classic Minecraft days. If you ever want the old school IRC feel/experience you could always join the relay on Telehack. Check out my user title for more info on that.
As far as what I'd bring back from the old internet goes, I think I'd have to say that I miss platforms like AIM and MSN messenger above all else. It really was the golden age of socializing on the internet and we didn't even realize it, yet it still felt new and cool. I think alot of people took for granted what a giant step forward that was.

To be honest, I never really got to enjoy having the internet as a kid or experience much beyond simple browsing. The internet connection in my town was really slow, and sometimes pretty unreliable at those businesses where you could rent a computer for a certain amount of time, haha.
Now that I know a little more about what the internet was like back then, I’d say I kind of miss Flash games. Apparently, they were made with some kind of software that has since been discontinued and become obsolete. I also kind of miss the aesthetic of some computers from that era, which I now know is called Frutiger Aero.

Those old forums bro. Those were the best. I used to chat up everyone over there. Loads of fun. It was all so active back then. Misinformation was rampand but also people were much smarter or something. I fucking hate the tiktok communities

Yeah I miss a lot of the old forums. Everything started closing down one after the next... They aren't just for sharing knowledge; the networking was always fun too. I've made so many friends from all over the world with similar interests and to this day I've kept up with some of them. Even took a trip to Europe and met with a few buddies I'd game with over the years.
