I personally started with Forex, but over time I moved toward CME futures because it fits the way I trade much better. Forex is a decentralized OTC market, while CME futures are traded on a centralized exchange. With CME, you’re working with exchange-traded contracts, standardized tick values, and centralized market data. For a trader who focuses heavily on time and price, liquidity, CRT, HTF narratives and LTF execution, this can make the market structure much cleaner to study. You also have instruments like NQ/MNQ, ES/MES, CL/MCL and GC/MGC, with clearly defined contract specifications. Micros are especially useful because they allow you to control your position size and dollar risk more precisely. But don't make the mistake of thinking that moving to CME will automatically make you profitable. Your strategy doesn't become better just because you changed markets. You still need a tested model, proper risk management, discipline and a clear understanding of the instrument you're trading. For me, the transition wasn't about abandoning everything I learned in Forex. It was about taking the concepts I already understood — liquidity, time, price, manipulation, displacement and execution — and applying them to a centralized futures market. So if you're considering the move, don't ask: Is CME better than Forex? Ask yourself: Which market gives me the structure, data, contract specifications and risk control that best fit the way I trade? That's the question that matters.
