Discord Notifications (NEED YOUR FEEDBACK ASAP) - Omniscient - Oct 8, 2026
I added TG Notification Bot to HF yesterday. It works great.

I want feedback if I should also add the same notify options for a Discord Bot. Would you use it? Do you prefer Telegram or Discord?
And this won't replace HF's own websocket Notify system, that's coming back for sure. Consider TG and Discord options and backup.

Discord has turned to shi.t after enforcing age verification aka surveillance mode and I'm sure a hacking forum doesn't appreciate that.

It doesn’t hurt to implement this into discord.
I’d use this over using telegram one.

I'd also use this over the telegram one for sure. More options and features definitely can't hurt!

Can you tell me about these options and features that you believe Discord notifications would have that TG ones may not?

For me its just personal preference, I use discord alot more than I use telegram. Discord I use for active communication, while Telegram I only use once a week if that to check up on niche marketplace groups for different online usernames etc.

Discord is the reason why Forums are dying.
I would not vote for this in the mid-terms.

As someone who does use both Discord and Telegram I think for sake of the forum the having only the telegram option should be fine but of course there are a lot of people who use Discord but I think for a hacking forum, adding discord notifications might not be the way to go.

To be honest the only reason I'd support having an official HF's discord server is when HF itself is down, but that rarely happens.

that’s definitely true, but if you think about it, if a lot of users migrated over to discord that could be a way to draw them back onto the forum as checking the forum for notifications is probably out of mind having it connected to discord could bring people back. I don’t think it would hinder activity on here as as much as as it would help.

I see, I would have an unofficial official Discord server and just rely on the API, but engaging Discord is a way to draw traffic off of here. Similar to how Skype was back in the day I guess.

Or it would inspire conversations in the Discord similar to how Convo is here with threads being posted? I think it would hinder similar to how Reddit trackers do in servers.
I understand the idea, I don't agree, but I am merely one Terry A. Davis, so not sure how much that carries when utilitarianism might be better

Discord use hurts HF activity. There is no disputing that.

I don't use TG so discord would be more preferred for myself. Ensuring that this is purely built for notifications and no chat feature - can't hurt ultimately. Gives users more preference options and can trigger more activity onhere if users spot they have notifications that need checked
