What Has Become Too Expensive for What It Is? - Michael - Oct 13, 2026

Prices are going up, and inflation is rising, what has become too expensive?
Some stuff are everyday use, but other things are just too expensive.

not too sure about you, but the price of pop has gone up significantly here. can be around $40 for a case

Yup. The stores sometimes knock 30 or 40% off, but I remember when a case of pop would go for WAY less. Maybe around $10 or $20. Not $40...

A loaf of bread. I remember that shit being like 50 pence. For the same thing its like £2 thats four times for the same stuff.

It just seems, sometimes stores just make their prices higher 'just because they can'.

Bread prices went crazy indeed.
A lot of mark up on this though.

Most definitely.
Stores know they can sometimes ask premium prices for this.

I'll go with chocolate. I understand why it's expensive, considering the entire production process, but at the end of the day, the price still feels ridiculously high for something that's just chocolate.

Property taxes
I just looked further into it and when I finally pay off the place I am living at, the property taxes each month will end up costing about the same as the "rent"

Even when I own the place, I still will feel like I am renting forever more.

Food man... food just keeps going up in price.
almost all food products have went up so much in price and they do shrinkflation on top of it so were paying way more and getting less. I never noticed this as much until around 2021-2022... now its just blatantly obvious and it will only keep getting worse
