[TUT] How to spoof your MAC Address without using programs [TUT] - Obi-Wan Cannabis - Aug 24, 2010

What is the MAC Address?

In computer networking, a Media Access Control address (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to network adapters or network interface cards (NICs) usually by the

manufacturer for identification. If assigned by the manufacturer, a MAC address usually encodes the manufacturer's registered identification number. It may also be known as an

Ethernet Hardware Address (EHA), hardware address, adapter address, or physical address. MAC addresses are used in the Media Access Control protocol sub-layer of the OSI

reference model.

What will you learn?

In this tutorial you'll learn how to spoof your MAC address without using any programs.

There are programs like SMAC and TMAC v5 R3 that make this process automatically.

But in this tutorial I'll show you how to change it without using programs. ๐Ÿ‘

What will you need?

Computer running Windows (couldn't get it to work on Win7 so I'll be using XP)

10 minutes or less of free time

Lets Start

Step 1) Go to Control Panel/Network and Internet Connections/Network Connections.

Step 2) Click with the right button of the mouse in your Internet Adapter and choose properties.

Step 3) Now click on the "Configure" button.

Spoiler (Click to View)

Step 4) Go to the tab "Advanced", select "Network Address" from that listbox, and then type on Value TextBox the MAC Address you want to use.

Spoiler (Click to View)

Step 5) Click ok.

Step 6) To see if everything worked just open up cmd and type "ipconfig/all" (without quotation).

If you see the new MAC Address there, it means that it worked.

As I said there are programs that make this process automatically. If you want to download instead doing it by yourself check the links below.

SMAC

TMAC V3 R5

NIC MAC CHANGER (created by ฦฌEแ„ƒKฦฌำจะŸIแ„ƒ )

WE'RE DONE!

Cool tut but when I did change it, it disconnected me from my network and wouldn't let me rejoin. I had to set the MAC back to normal. If I wouldn't have saved the MAC before I changed it, I wouldn't be back here to post this :p

Good job.

MAC address spoofing attacks are fairly common these days and still very useful.

I used the windows method. When I finally reconnected, i checked ipconfig /all and it was the same as before. Then I downloaded Smac 2.0 and tried and got the same results :/

Doesn't work on Win7.

A sentence I wrote on the begining of the TUT.+

Quote:"Computer running Windows (couldn't get it to work on Win7 so I'll be using XP)"

Oh sorry. Thanks anyways. No programs are working for Win7?

Couldn't get it to work on Windows 7.

I used NIC MAC Changer, smac, TMAC v3 R5 and Windows method.

Any of it worked.

If you find something to Win7 say something. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I don't use backtrack. Just test it out.

If you go to cmd and your mac changed then it probably means that it will work on backtrack. โœŒ
