thing is i downloaded a zip file and when i went to extract it it asked me for a password which i didnt have so i really need to get the password :S

Wow you really used the backhoe to dig this one. You can use John The Ripper with rar2john to extract the hash, or rarcrack. I only know the linux tools I know that John The Ripper is on Windows as well although you would need to install python to use the helper scripts.
