Unhackme, Annoying? - Eminent Fate - Jan 16, 2011

I would very much like the program Unhack Me to not be mentioned, as most users will find it utterly annoying

I have used it on my Vmware, it is confusing. It has 3 different scan types whereas 1 is effective to some extent. It found Kaspersky and a few other files to be infected but when removed it found the same files again.

During Boot-Up it used around 30 seconds by itself doing what it wanted to before the PC itself could start. It also performed another scan after boot-up which would make my system slow until cancelled.

It has an very annoying HIPS function which will detect almost anything as a virus.

I attempted to remove the program but somehow I was blocked from doing it (Windows XP), so I decided to revert back to snapshot.

To sum it up:
1. Opens a big screen during Bootup basically doing nothing
2. It wants to run an additional scan after that one
3. It always detects a virus, It found kaspersky and 3-4 other files to be infected, removed it and the popup came after the next boot up
4. Slows the PC down.

Thank you for the tip. I probably would have wound up using it eventually, so thanks for letting me know.

Let me this up a little.

Seeing as I would like this thread to be noticed and be taken into consideration EVERY time a person suggests that horrible program :).

I have added this to the News for this weeks enjoy. Sorry for the late response.

Good job getting this into the news.

I have tried Unhack Me as well and also found it to be very annoying. All the files it detected on bootup in my case were false positives. It makes Windows Startup time unbearably slow as well. Couldn't wait to remove it from my computer.

Exactly the same for me Bainx. The program is horrible and those who suggested it to countless people are suggesting one of the WORST programs around.

Thanks for ing this thread with a valid response though, so it is more visible^^
