Just to see if it was really me or if the others felt it as well. * - clark.dll - Oct 20, 2014 I'm not too active in the computing section, but I definitely think it's good that you brought this to everyone's attention. I certainly agree that more sections need to be heavily moderated. * - CRT - Oct 20, 2014 Yeah I agree. Just at a glance I can see a few threads in that section that shouldn't be there. Aura, YUNOMODYET š * - RDCA - Oct 20, 2014 While I have respect for you, a lot of your reports for "Wrong Forum" I find inaccurate. Not all, but a decent amount. Though, the DBAs are removed as soon as we get to the reports. There is an idea of best fit and plausibility which should be respected. * - Aura - Oct 20, 2014 (Oct 20, 2014 07:13 PM)Clark Wrote: I'm not too active in the computing section, but I definitely think it's good that you brought this to everyone's attention. Reported this thread the day it was posted (therefore, 4 days ago) : Say I wanted to 'echo' something using cmd.exe by Encrypted32 Totally belongs in the Batch, Shell, Dos, and Command Line Interpreters section, wasn't moved. Reported this thread this morning (so roughly 12 hours ago) : Vmware linux partition expand by c00perzz If you read it, you'll see that it have nothing to do with VMs since the OP can't partition INSIDE his *nix distro, the VM software gave the VM the HDD space like it asked, this is a *nix question. This thread obviously breaks the rules (do I have to explain why?) : Microsoft Developer Account(MSDN) by HebrewintheRain Reported it a few hours ago, like 5-6. Still up and running. This thread was reported a few days ago : Cost of running servers? by Evil.eXe Belongs in either the Web Servers or Hosting sections, since it's a question related to SERVERS maintenance and such, wasn't moved. I have more like these if needed. (Oct 20, 2014 07:21 PM)RDCA Wrote: While I have respect for you, a lot of your reports for "Wrong Forum" I find inaccurate. And I respect you as well RDCA, you know that (you can kick my ass at anytime during my training, LOL). I'm just reporting this as it's been happening even before you became Staff. I just posted a few examples, are these threads fitting in the right sections or not ? We had that talk before I think. Also, the main reason I report threads as "Wrong Forum" is because I know that the OP will get better assistance if the threads gets moved in the section they are meant to be. I'm not doing that to necessary clean the section, but also to give the OP a chance to receive quick and reliable help. * - Loki123 - Oct 20, 2014 (Oct 20, 2014 07:21 PM)RDCA Wrote: While I have respect for you, a lot of your reports for "Wrong Forum" I find inaccurate. It might have been inaccurate or not. However some posts are just not dealt with. For example in the *nix section a post that was reported : https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4410675 Is simply to advertise his addon to ClamAV. Does that really belong in.. any section at all ? https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=3301324 This tutorial, I reported it a while ago, great starts with how to install BackTrack on a VM, the main tutorial is ettercap or something like that, really ? Belongs in the *nix section ? * - Aura - Oct 21, 2014 (Oct 20, 2014 08:26 PM)Loki123 Wrote: It might have been inaccurate or not. However some posts are just not dealt with. This thread is going against the cross-posting rules too since it's posted in the White Hat Help section, it's mainly a "redirection" thread. * - xVulnerable - Oct 21, 2014 I don't think that certain sections are junked faster than others, how ever it is true that sometimes it would take about 12-24hrs for it to get junked as I do the same in the RAT section. Sectional junk privileges for certain users would be nice. * - Aura - Oct 21, 2014 (Oct 21, 2014 02:03 PM)xVulnerable Wrote: I don't think that certain sections are junked faster than others, how ever it is true that sometimes it would take about 12-24hrs for it to get junked as I do the same in the RAT section. I understand that certain sections have members Moderator (that aren't Mentors), but I think that having one Mentor or the Mentors group responding to the reports in the Computing area would be nice, at least the 2-3 sections I mentionned. * - Fox⢠- Oct 21, 2014 I'd completely agree, Aura. I hope this gets attention to the issue. * - Raddify - Oct 21, 2014 I agree with what Aura said, but some of the sections don't help with what I need help with. * - Aura - Oct 21, 2014 (Oct 21, 2014 02:56 PM)Class⢠Wrote: I agree with what Aura said, but some of the sections don't help with what I need help with. Which sections are we talking about ? Like for example, a lot of people that have hardware issues will post in the White Hat Help section, only because it's a section known to provide great assistance. But, hardware issues doesn't belong in that section, it belongs in the Hardware section where we have dozen of hardware fanatic members that can help the OP diagnostic the problem and solve it. A lot of people will post in the Windows or White Hat Help section when they have browser issues (OTHERS than malware), when these threads belong in the Web Browser section. Posting threads in a section where they don't belong is just hurting the other section where these threads should be in. * - Omniscient - Oct 21, 2014 Viral Dragon is not available at this time. @Aurа you can moderate the Misc Computer Talk and the subforums now. Quote:My mistake, I had been told that mentors did see reports. Mentors do not see reports or even the Moderator Control Panel. They are not staff and have very limited abilities. Quote:Reported this thread the day it was posted (therefore, 4 days ago) : Just because a thread COULD be moved doesn't mean it SHOULD be moved. Lots of threads are appropriate in more than one section. You should just leave a thread if it does fit the section and it should only be moved if it's actually in the wrong section. Quote:This thread obviously breaks the rules (do I have to explain why?) : While not immediately junked it was eventually junked. Reporting threads like that will eventually get dealt with. Quote:This thread was reported a few days ago : Again...just because it may have a better section doesn't mean we'll move it. Members do violate some posting etiquette and rules but for the most part it's benign and not harmful to HF overall. Staff tends to concentrate on more serious violations. * - Aura - Oct 21, 2014 Thank you Omni. And yes I understand the point that a thread could fit in many sections, I had this talk with RDCA a while ago. I'll have a question for you too, will send you a PM shortly. * - Xycon - Oct 21, 2014 I must admit I often do see hardware related questions or threads in "Miscellaneous Computer Talk" where they do not belong. This bothered me in particular for one reason, random people going around posting useless or bad advise which would then be followed by the OP and he ends up worse. Especially in regards to a new desktop build or something, OP could potentially lose several hundreds of ā¬Ā£$ simply because of following bad advise. @ Aura, grats? No surprise really. |
